Indoor Environment Determines the Quality of an Occupant's Health

New Test Kit Evaluates for Indoor Environmental Pollutants

FLORIDA, CLEARWATER, Mar. 28 -/E-Wire/-- Indoor pollutants such as mold and dust allergens can be toxic, dangerous and even deadly. A recent USA Weekend article (http://www.usaweekend.com/99_issues/991205/991205mold.html) tells of a Texas woman whose child and husband suffer from serious side effects associated with mold growing in what they considered to be their dream home. With more information available on the hazards of indoor contaminants, concern for indoor air quality is escalating.

Fortunately, Pure Air Control Services (PACS), located on the web at http://www.pureaircontrols.com/iaqform.htm, specializes in indoor air quality inspections and solutions. Until recently, only their environmental consulting services were offered across the nation. Now, PACS has developed a do-it yourself method for qualitatively testing indoor air contaminants; even the mold (Stachybotrys chartarum) that was implicated in the deaths (pulmonary hemorrage) of the Cleveland infants can be identified. The IAQ tests can be utilized by everyone from homeowners to building managers themselves.

The Indoor Air Quality-Screen Test Kit (IAQ-STK) provides an easy to use and inexpensive way to rapidly identify allergens and potentialy dangerous toxins that may reside within the structure of a home or workplace. The types of contaminants the do-it-yourself kit evaluates include:

* Allergens -- What is in the carpet, furniture or ductwork? Examples: Dust mite, cat, cockroach and fungi

* Hydrothermal -- What are the thermal conditions? Examples: Relative humidity/temperature

* Aerobiology -- What is floating in the air? Examples: Fungal elements, insect biodetritus, fiberglass, pollen, dust and skin cell fragments

* Precipitated Particulate Analysis -- What has fallen? Examples: Fungal elements, insect biodetritus, fiberglass, pollen, dust and skin cell fragments

Once samples within a facility are taken, they are sent to the PACS Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory. Analysis is performed by a staff microbiologist, and results are sent back within 5-10 days. 24 hour turn-a-round time is available at additional cost, upon request. The IAQ - STK Laboratory Report will help identify allergens and other known environmental contaminants which may affect building occupants. For example, information gathered from the Dust Allergen Screen can alert building occupants of conditions that may cause asthma and/or allergic reactions. Each report provides a comparison to existing guidelines and/or standards as well a reccommendations for futher action.

The Indoor Air Quality Screen Test Kit is recommended for use by:

* Building and Facility Managers

* School and Plant Operator

* Hospital Engineers

* Occupational Health and Safety Professionals

* Insurance Claim Adjusters

* Industrial Hygienists

* Building Maintenance Supervisors

* Test and Balance Professionals

* Governmental Officials

* City, County and state Officials

* Real Estate Professionals

* Architects, among others.
