FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
First American Scientific Corp (FASC - OTC, BB) announces opening of Cloverdale research and demonstration centre
CANADA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, VANCOUVER, Apr. 16 -/E-Wire/-- Mr Brian Nichols, President of First American Scientific Corp (FASC) is pleased to announce the opening of our Cloverdale, British Columbia, demonstration site and research center. On Monday April 8, 2002, the facility commenced full operation of production and evaluation runs for several corporate and institutional clients using our patented, EPA registered, KDS Micronex technology to kinetically reduce raw feedstock, such as biomass, organic waste, and horse and chicken manures, into a fine, dry, pathogen-reduced, powder which can be used as an organic fertilizer base or as a combustible fuel to create BTU s or electrical power.
Dr. Sundar Narayan, First American's newly appointed Vice President of Research & Development has indicated that six production projects are scheduled at the facility for April and May 2002, including an evaluation project being conducted by the University of B C. The evaluation is expected to independently confirm results achieved in Montreal performed by our partners, Alternative Green Energy Systems Inc (AGES) and Hydro-Quebec. The KDS equipment's capacity to convert high moisture content hog fuel (biomass) into a combustible fuel has the potential to significantly reduce waste and operating costs in the forest and agriculture industries. This project will augment our research in Montreal and is expected to confirm the value of installing the KDS equipment to recycle waste and reduce energy costs at pulp and paper mills.
Other projects planned for Cloverdale are the processing of biomass to be pelletized and sold as a fuel, the processing of hog fuel to be compressed and formed into fire logs, the processing of oyster and clamshells to be used as a soil amendment, and the processing poultry litter for a major east coast poultry producer. Further work is also planned with organic food waste to assist with the retrofitting of the equipment located in Ireland.
According to Mr. Nichols: "The opening of this facility is the culmination of a great deal of hard work by a dedicated group of people. It marks a significant turning point in First American's development as we can now respond to requests from our international clients in a professional, world-class fashion.' The facility is located less than ten miles from the US border, thirty minutes by road from Vancouver International Airport and is situated in the agricultural heart of British Columbia's Lower Mainland.
