ARCADIS Secures Second Major Guaranteed Fixed Price Remediation Contract for the Military
EUROPE, NETHERLANDS, DENVER & ARNHEM, Apr. 23 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- ARCADIS (NASDAQ: ARCAF, EURONEXT: ARCAD) announced today that it has been awarded a $19.9M contract to provide services under their Guaranteed Remediation Program ( GRiP(TM)) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, for Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This is the second major win this year at an active base for ARCADIS using its innovative GRiP(TM). The first win came just one month ago and was valued at $19.4M. ARCADIS pioneered the GRiP(TM) in 1994 in the private sector and introduced the guaranteed fixed price remediation concept to the Department of Defense in 1998.
"This is the first time this type of contract has been awarded by the Corps of Engineers and the Department of the Army," stated Omaha District Commander, Col. Kurt F. Ubbelohde. "This was truly a team effort between the Department of the Army, the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Leavenworth, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Kansas City and Omaha Districts."
Fort Leavenworth is a 5,634-acre facility located on the west bank of the Missouri River in Kansas. The installation was established in 1827 and is the oldest continuous operating Army installation west of the Mississippi River. There are 19 sites on the Fort Leavenworth installation, including six landfills and several fire training areas that will be addressed by the contract.
The U.S. Army, through the cooperative efforts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is expecting to realize cost savings and accelerated cleanup through the GRiP(TM). By fixing the cost to bring each site to regulatory closure, the U.S. Army is able to improve the programming of the environmental remediation budgets. In addition, accelerating the actual cleanup of sites supports the U.S. Army's commitment to environmental stewardship, and allows future land use to support the national defense mission.
"This is the second major win for ARCADIS in a relatively short period based on our staff's expertise in applying the GRiP(TM) concept for military installations," said Steve Blake, member of the Executive Board of ARCADIS. "The award of this project enhances our position as a top provider of these innovative services to the military. We are proud to be of service to our armed forces and look forward to working with the Army Corps of Engineers in the implementation of the project."
