Earthtimes Will Publish Magazine and Daily Newspaper Editions at Johannesburg Summit (WSSD)
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, Jul. 30 -/E-Wire/-- Earthtimes--a not-for-profit publication-- plans to produce 10 daily newspaper editions in print and on the Web, and a special print magazine edition, at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, August 26 to September 4. The summit--which is expected to involve nearly 100,000 participants, is expected to be the largest international conference held by the United Nations.
We greatly welcome news and features about governments, business, civil society, foundations, media, professional organizations, and other constituencies involved with WSSD.
We also welcome advertisements and sponsored special sections. (Our rates are available upon request.)
Our daily newspaper will be printed and distributed jointly with the Summit Star, a special conference newspaper that is being published by the prestigious Independent Newspapers of South Africa. Earthtimes will also be the media partner of the Johannesburg World Summit Company, which has been created by the South African government as the sole organizer of the summit.
Earthtimes's daily newspaper edition, of which some 65,000 copies will be printed every morning, will be distributed to every delegate in hotel rooms before breakfast. The newspaper will also be distributed widely the various sites in Johannesburg where the World Summit is being convened. The newspaper will especially encourage the contribution of journalists from South Africa, and other developing countries. It will seek to emphasize activities of the civil society sector.
Earthtimes magazine will also be distributed free of charge to every delegate attending the summit, plus influential leaders in business, finance, politics, diplomacy, media, nongovernmental organizations and other constituencies around the world.
In addition, we will provide continuous news coverage on our award-winning daily Web site, http://www.earthtimes.org.
Earthtimes's daily conference issues have been produced at important international meetings since at Rio Earth Summit in 1992. Typically, about a dozen conferences are covered annually.
