FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Climate Change Threatens the Future of Marine Ecosystems
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 -/E-Wire/-- Comprising nearly 70 percent of the Earth's surface, the world's oceans not only play a crucial role in influencing the global climate, but also harbor some of the most diverse and important, ecologically as well as economically, ecosystems on the globe. According to a new report to be released by the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, U.S. coastal and marine ecosystems will become increasingly challenged in the next century by the potential impacts of climate change.
The Pew Center report, Coastal and Marine Ecosystems and Global Climate Change, explores the potential impacts and hazards climate change will pose to delicate marine life on U.S. coastal and marine ecosystems, including estuaries, coral reefs, and the open ocean.
Anyone interested in the potential impacts of climate change is invited to participate. We will send a copy of the report and press release in advance if requested.
