Complex Issues of Earth Summit Simplified on Aveda Website
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, Aug. 29 -/E-Wire/-- People seeking a simpler explanation about the numerous and complex issues surrounding the World Summit On Sustainable Development (WSSD) this week in Johannesburg, South Africa, can visit the Aveda™ Corporation's web site for a series of special reports through September 4. See www.aveda.com.
With the help of corporate herbalist and environmental watchdog, David Hircock, a contributor to Organic Style magazine, the global manufacturer of plant-based hair care, skin care, body care, Pure-Fume™, makeup and lifestyle products aims to distill the core issues to help consumers better understand how their small, personal contributions can make a difference.
This is not the first time Aveda has set out to educate its consumers about issues related to environmental sustainability. Every April, Aveda conducts a worldwide Earth Month campaign across its network of distributors, salons, spas and stores to help raise awareness and funds for non-profit groups working to promote environmental issues, such as global warming and clean, free flowing water. In the past two years, Aveda has raised more than 1.1 million dollars through the sale of products and services.
As part of its web report, Aveda President, Dominique Conseil, issues a call to action to consumers. "Saving the Earth is entirely up to us as individuals," says Conseil in his online letter. "If you focus on what you can control, it will make a great difference and you will feel good about your integrity. Let others worry about what they can control. The problem is not out there, it is in the here and now! You're in charge. In the liberal world we live in, manufacturers will go where consumers decide to take them.
"We, the human species, will have had more impact on the ecosystem of the planet in 100 years, than nature's elements had in hundreds of thousands of years… The planet does not belong to us. We belong to this planet."
