IPEX Launches Award-winning Sewer Odor and Corrosion Control System

CANADA, ONTARIO, TORONTO, Oct. 15 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- IPEX is launching the Vortex Flow Insert, an innovative system that will eliminate sewer odor emissions and control corrosion. Its high-tech, low-maintenance design has no moving parts and offers substantial savings over conventional chemical injection systems. Applications include any sewers that have potential for odorous discharges including manhole drops, pumping station wet wells, and forcemain discharges.

"The Vortex Flow Insert will dramatically change how municipalities deal with odor complaints from their residents", says Richard St-Aubin, Business Development Manager at IPEX. "The cost and time required to retrofit an effective odor solution into a problem area have just dropped substantially with this insert."

The insert eliminates costly chemical injection systems, high-maintenance bio-filters, air scrubbers and manhole seals. Its patented spiral flow design, developed by hydraulics specialist Dr. Eugene Natarius, has been the subject of numerous published technical papers. The device uses patented "passive hydraulic technology" that harnesses the energy of the sewage flow to re-aerate the sewage and oxidize odorous gases. Air and gases are drawn down to the bottom of the manhole structure and entrained into the sewage flow as a result of a vigorous mixing action.

In operation since 1998, the insert has proven itself in municipal and industrial applications around the world. In 1999, the American Public Works Association declared the Vortex Flow Insert winner of its Technical Innovation Award.

IPEX, a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic piping systems for the municipal market, will apply its technical and marketing resources, along with a comprehensive network of sales and distribution facilities, to introduce the Vortex Flow Insert to municipalities across North America.

IPEX offers the world's most extensive range of thermoplastic piping systems for the municipal, industrial, mechanical, electrical and radiant heating markets. With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and distribution centers across North America, the IPEX name is synonymous with quality and performance.
