Spectra Environmental Group Names Director for Poughkeepsie Office
Adds Professional Staff in Environmental Engineering and Water Quality Issues
NEW YORK, LATHAM, Oct. 21 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- Latham-based Spectra Environmental Group has named Reinis Sipols, P.E. as Vice President and Director of the company's Poughkeepsie office.
Sipols specializes in mining engineering and takes on his new responsibilities immediately. Spectra's Poughkeepsie office is the site of one of the two firms that Spectra has acquired in the past year, formerly home to Hayward and Pakan Associates. It is now the Hudson Valley regional office for Spectra. Spectra acquired Hayward and Pakan in November 2001, and Konski Engineering of Syracuse in May of this year.
Spectra founder Robert C. LaFleur notes Sipols expertise in the mining industry and his prior experience in management with Tilcon, and New York Trap Rock Corporation; "Reinis brings the right strengths to the right location at the right time. We are expanding operations at our Poughkeepsie office, and his professional expertise will help us grow the business."
Sipols is licensed as a professional engineer in both New York and Pennsylvania. He worked previously for Tilcon New York-New Jersey, New York Trap Rock, and Martin Marietta Aggregates. A native of Detroit, he relocated to the New York Metropolitan area 14 years ago and now resides in West Milford, New Jersey.
Also joining Spectra is Peter Desrochers, P.E., a specialist in a broad range of environmental issues, as Principal Engineer. Desrochers has provided air quality consulting services to industry throughout New York State, notably Wyeth Ayerst Laboratories, Finch, Pruyn & Company, IBM, and General Electric. He holds degrees in Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering from Quinnipiac University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, respectively. In addition to air quality issues, Desrochers provides professional services in wastewater permitting, environmental assessments and hazardous waste management. Desrochers, a resident of Ballston Lake, New York, is originally from Thomaston, Connecticut.
Thomas J. McGrath, P.E., a specialist in all aspects of water systems joins Spectra from Vollmer Associates of Albany, N.Y. "The growth of water-related issues, from safe drinking water to compliance with wastewater regulations, is dramatic," says LaFleur. "It is certainly one of the key social and environmental issues of our time. Tom McGrath's expertise gives Spectra important strategic strength for our clients." McGrath received his professional training in Civil Engineering at Tri-State University in Indiana, and undertook specialized coursework at the University of Wisconsin. He is a lifelong resident of Cohoes, New York.
McGrath and Desrochers are based in Spectra's Latham office.
Spectra was founded in 1993 to provide high quality professional services in a broad range of environmental specialty areas, as well as in geologic, solid waste, air and water quality and infrastructure matters. The company now has 65 employees in three New York State regional locations.
