Rose Bowl Conserves Water by "Flushing" Flush Urinals

More Than 1 Million Gallons of Water Saved by Sport Venue's Use of Water-Free

CALIFORNIA, PASADENA, Nov. 21 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- As UCLA prepares to take the field in its annual grudge match against cross-town rival USC, city of Pasadena and Rose Bowl Stadium officials announced a victory in the on-going battle to save water. By installing Falcon water-free urinals in all Rose Bowl public men's restrooms, and with more than 650,000 uses by the public, the city of Pasadena will conserve more than 1 million gallons of water when estimating the water saved during five UCLA home football games and five Los Angeles Galaxy home soccer games this season.

Four months ago, in August 2002, Pasadena Department of Water and Power personnel removed 28 older, trough-type urinals and replaced them with 259 Falcon Waterfree Technologies urinals. These new, state-of-the-art water-free urinals conserve water and represent an environmentally friendly, odor-free alternative to traditional trough-type urinals.

"Pasadena is committed to conserving our natural resources, particularly water, and to utilizing technological solutions to help meet the needs of Pasadena residents, business owners and others patronizing the city and its venues," said Cynthia Kurtz, city manager, city of Pasadena. "The installation of water-free urinals at the Rose Bowl provides the perfect opportunity for the city to showcase this commitment at its world-renowned sports facility."

"We had five Los Angeles Galaxy soccer games and, after the UCLA-USC football game, we will have had five UCLA home football games at the Rose Bowl. Aside from some initial wonderment as to why the urinals don't flush, the public's response to the water-free urinals has been outstanding," added Darryl Dunn, general manager of the Rose Bowl Stadium. "Falcon's water-free urinals have performed well with heavy usage, require little maintenance and provide Rose Bowl patrons with clean, odor-free amenities that have the added benefit of conserving water."

Falcon Waterfree's urinals look like standard urinal fixtures but use no water. Each Falcon Waterfree urinal saves approximately 40,000 gallons of fresh water per year, resulting in dramatically reduced water and sewer costs. The cornerstone of Falcon Waterfree Technologies is the company's proprietary cartridge, installed at the base of the urinal. The cartridge is what allows users to save water and eliminate urinal odor. This water-free technology not only helps preserve our environment, but can also lead to huge savings in annual water and maintenance expenses. Falcon's water-free technology is currently used at sports and entertainment facilities, universities, corporate headquarters and government facilities throughout the United States.

"We're pleased that we can offer the city of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl a product that saves money by reducing water and sewer costs, and preserves the environment at the same time," said Jeremy Bernard, director of corporate communications for Falcon Waterfree Technologies. "Our product serves as a convenient, affordable and practical solution for sports arenas, schools, restaurants, bars, recreation areas, amusement parks, movie theaters, office buildings, factories and all other public facilities."

Founded in 2000, Falcon Waterfree Technologies has one basic goal: to conserve the Earth's water supply. Falcon, the worldwide leader in waterfree urinal technology, strives to design products that not only save water and reduce expenses, but also help ensure the well being of future generations. Falcon Waterfree's system is a responsible, cost-effective urinal designed for people who understand the need for environmental awareness and fiscal responsibility.
