Sapphos Environmental, Inc. Launches Land Use Planning

CALIFORNIA, PASEDENA, Mar. 1 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- Pasadena-based Sapphos Environmental, Inc. today announced the formation of its new Land Use Planning Services Group. The Land Use Planning Services Group will augment and complement Sapphos Environmental, Inc.'s existing environmental compliance and resource management services. Mr. Dev Vrat, AICP, has joined Sapphos Environmental, Inc. to lead the new Land Use Planning Services Group.

Sapphos Environmental, Inc.'s new Land Use Planning Services Group formalizes the firm's planning function and expands previous experience in land use planning, redevelopment, urban design, and parks, recreation, and open space planning.

Mr. Vrat comes to Sapphos Environmental, Inc. with more than 25 years of public and private land use planning experience. He has managed the preparation of general plan elements, coastal plans, community and specific plans, campus plans, transportation plans, park and open space plans, urban design guidelines, capital improvement plans, public participation programs, public finance plans, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents. Mr. Vrat is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and sits on the State Boards of the American Planning Association, the Association of Environmental Professionals, and the California Chapter of the National Association of Environmental Professionals. He has taught at the university level and has received numerous planning and environmental awards.

With the addition of Mr. Vrat to the firm, Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is now positioned to prepare general plan updates, redevelopment plans, "smart growth" plans, revitalization plans, urban design guidelines, development impact fee studies, and fiscal plans for clients in the Los Angeles Basin, Inland Empire, San Joaquin Valley, eastern Sierra, and the Central Coast.
