Alliant Energy to Host 'Energy Policy and Global Climate Change -- A Path

"The purpose of this conference is to move beyond the rhetoric and focus on practical steps that will begin to limit the impacts that global climate change is starting to have on our environment," said Erroll B. Davis, Jr., president, chairman and CEO of Alliant Energy. "A wide range of facts and opinions on this important environmental issue will be presented by some of the most well-known researchers and environmental experts who are dedicated to finding potential solutions," he added.

The one-day conference features presentations on the fundamentals of the energy/climate interaction, options for suspending the global climate change experiment, global climate change policy considerations as well as market-based approaches to limiting the growth of global climate change. Representatives from the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, General Motors and BP are scheduled to speak as well as Vicky Bailey, assistant secretary for international affairs and domestic policy, U.S. Department of Energy.

The following organizations are co-sponsoring the event: Natural Resources Defense Council, The Nature Conservancy, Chicago Climate Exchange, Edison Electric Institute, Carnegie Mellon, University of Iowa's Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research, University of Wisconsin's Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, Electric Power Research Institute and the California Climate Action Registry.
