FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

1st Statewide Green Power Workshop in Wisconsin Provides Technical Expertise to Media and Businesses, Recognition for Green Power Purchasers

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, Apr. 30 -/E-Wire/-- Many leading businesses and other institutions throughout the nation are choosing renewable energy resources, or "green power" for their energy needs. To help Wisconsin businesses make similar choices, the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) and its partners will host the "Wisconsin Green Power Workshop" in Milwaukee on May 13, 2003. The workshop will:

--- Provide Midwest business and institutional customers with information on renewable energy and technical support to help them determine the best strategy for making a green power purchase.

--- Highlight examples of innovative purchasers of renewable energy in Wisconsin and in other states.

--- Update the public and journalists on the state of renewable energy in Wisconsin.

--- Recognize leading purchasers of renewable energy in Wisconsin through a statewide green purchaser awards ceremony and national US EPA recognition

--- Provide panels of leading national and regional experts on green power policies and procurement strategies.

Businesses and institutions are turning to green power not only reduce their own emissions and dependence on fossil fuels, but also to demonstrate their commitment to protecting the environment. Renewable energy generation, or "green power," provides these companies with a new choice in how their electricity is produced, using such sources as wind, sun, biomass and water. "These commercial green power purchasers, and the utilities meeting their needs, are making exceptional contributions to the renewable energy industry in the Midwest," said Jan Hamrin, Executive Director of CRS. "Creating and building the marketplace for purchasing green power is critical if we are to increase our energy supply while protecting our natural resources."

The Wisconsin Green Power Workshop will be held in Milwaukee at Marquette University on May 13th, 2003, and will feature a procurement workshop, a media expertise session, and an awards ceremony. In the morning session, top environmental reporters, journalism students and other state and local media representatives will gather for a media/press expertise session, covering the status of renewable energy in Wisconsin. During the luncheon ceremony, awards will be presented, recognizing Wisconsin's leading green power purchasers and renewable energy providers and organizations helping to build a successful green power market in the Midwest. The afternoon session will target potential non-residential purchasers of green power in Wisconsin, and will provide information on their options, examine the business case for renewable energy, and feature businesses leaders who have purchased green power.
