SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, Jun. 27 -/E-Wire/-- Environmental Microbiology Laboratory, Inc. (EMLabâ¢) announced today that its San Diego laboratory has received accreditation by the American Industrial Hygiene Association's (AIHA) EMLAP program. The AIHA accreditation applies to the analysis of mold and bacteria in EMLab's San Diego laboratory and follows the accreditation of their Northern California laboratory making EMLab⢠the only microbiology lab in North America to hold two AIHA accreditations.
EMLAP refers to the Environmental Microbiology Laboratory Accreditation Program administered by the AIHA. This program is designed specifically for laboratories specializing in analysis of microorganisms commonly detected in air, fluids and bulk samples as part of indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations. Participation in EMLAP assists the laboratory in maintaining high quality standards.
"Receiving the second seal of approval from AIHA confirms our assertion that EMLab is among the very best indoor air quality laboratories in North America," said Dr. Payam Fallah, Laboratory Manager & Senior Mycologist for EMLab's San Diego facility. "Indoor air quality professionals know that the analysis they receive from either one of our facilities is always of the highest quality."
Accreditation from AIHA is highly sought after from laboratories because when a laboratory is accredited by AIHA, the laboratory and its clients have the assurance that the laboratory has met defined standards for performance based on examination of a variety of criteria. When a laboratory is accredited by AIHA, it becomes part of an elite group of laboratories achieving and maintaining a high level of professional performance.
"Important health and financial decisions is based on the results of lab analyses and it is vital that the laboratory analyzing the samples be proficient in producing high quality data," said Dr. Fallah. "EMLab's AIHA accreditation is a mark of this capability."
