Land Rights Group Supports Griles Interior Nomination
WASHINGTON, BATTLE GROUND, Mar. 8 -/E-Wire/-- The American Land Rights Association (ALRA) today announced its support for President Bush's nomination of Steve Griles to be Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior.
"Steve Griles has always supported reasonable access to the federal lands for both recreation and commercial purposes, and is an advocate of private property rights," said Chuck Cushman, ALRA Executive Director.
"His nomination by President Bush is a clear sign of a renewed respect for the rights of land owners, and improved recreational opportunities for all Americans," Cushman continued. "Secretary Norton is putting into place a team that is philosophically in line with her views and agenda."
Griles worked in the Interior Department during the Reagan Administration. He was Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management, and Deputy Director of the Office of Surface Mining. He is currently a lobbyist in Washington, DC at National Environmental Strategies. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond.
ALRA is a nationwide organization founded in 1977 that advocates private property rights and recreational and commercial access to federal lands. Its membership is primarily small property owners and recreational and commercial permitees on federal lands. www.landrights.org
