Underground Solutions Joins Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association

Duraliner Technology Presented to International Piping Industry

PENNSYLVANIA, PITTSBURGH, Jun. 30 -/E-Wire/-- Underground Solutions, Inc. (Pink Sheets: symbol UGSI) announced today that the Company has recently become a member of the Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association.

The Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association is a non-profit, research / technical trade organization representing all segments of the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe industry. It was formed by a group of PVC pipe producers who, in 1971, recognized the potential of the product for buried water, sewage, drainage and irrigation systems. Realizing that the quality, performance, and value of PVC pipe and fittings would make it the product of choice for such projects, a group of industry leaders set out to find the best way to convey technical information and research about PVC Pipe and its advantages over other traditional piping materials. Known today as Uni-Bell, it is dedicated to the technical research and education about PVC pipe to specifiers, engineers, contractors and members of academia, its future design, and the needs of such a large, dynamic industry. Uni-Bell is an international organization with membership representing companies from across the globe.

Mark A. Smith, the Company's Chairman/CEO has recently attended the 31st Annual Uni-Bell Meeting held at Sea Island, Georgia. At the meeting, Underground Solutions was introduced and Mr. Smith was asked to provide a brief technical review of the Duraliner Water Line Replacement System. Mr. Smith stated, "I was extremely impressed with the resources provided by Uni-Bell. I am particularly excited about the interest that was expressed from the international attendees for the Duraliner solution. It opened my eyes to the fact that water line rehabilitation is truly an international opportunity."

The Duraliner Water Line Replacement System allows municipalities to completely rehabilitate deteriorated underground water lines with minimal excavation resulting in a substantial cost savings over conventional "dig and replace" methods.

Duraliner is a unique patented process for pipeline renewal resulting in a "stand alone" structural lining capable of handling internal minimum operating pressures of 150 psi with a 3.2 safety factor. Duraliner conforms to NSF 61 Standards for Drinking Water Components/Health Effects. In addition, Duraliner provides an equivalent design-life of new PVC pipelines (75 to 100 years) thus qualifying the rehabilitated pipe lines to be capitalized as new assets under the rules of GASB Statement 34.
