DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, WASHINGTON, Mar. 13 -/E-Wire/-- WHAT: EPA Administrator Christie Todd Whitman will recognize leaders in energy efficiency at the 2001 Energy Star Awards next week. Energy Star(R), sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, will present its Partner of the Year awards to businesses, schools, universities, utilities and other organizations for their work to increase energy efficiency in their own buildings and in the products they manufacture, and deliver energy efficiency in an easy way to consumers.

This year, Energy Star will recognize 34 winners for achievements in energy efficiency for consumer products, buildings, homes and consumer education.
