New ZAP Bike Powered by Advanced Battery
SANTA ROSA,, CALIFORNIA, Sep. 22 -/E-Wire/-- Electric transportation pioneer ZAP (OTC BB:ZAPZ) unveiled a new folding electric bicycle today powered by an advanced Lithium-Ion battery technology.
Called the ZAPBIKEâ¢, ZAP believes this is the first folding electric bicycle powered by a lithium-ion battery priced under $1000. Founded in 1994, ZAP helped spark the emergence of personal electric vehicles like power-assist bicycles and scooters by marketing a variety of models that offer convenience, quality and affordability. To date, the publicly owned company has delivered over 80,000 units to customers in more than 60 countries.
ZAP's new folding electric bike has a new compact design that, at first glance, does not appear to be electric. It pedals and operates like a normal bicycle, but the electronic propulsion system is hidden inside the frame and components. An 8AH lithium-ion battery is built into the center tube and you can recharge using a portable 110-volt household charger that plugs into a port on the side. The bike is propelled by a high efficiency 36-volt brushless DC motor integrated into the rear wheel hub. The power system is engaged via a twist-throttle on the handlebar and can assist riders up to 12 mph for distances up to 30 miles before recharging.
ZAP's new bike is lightweight and folds up in seconds to the size of a suitcase for easy storage in your closet, car, van, RV, airplane, boat or for use with mass transit. The frame is constructed of aluminum-alloy, which is corrosion-resistant, lightweight and strong. A headlight and an electronic horn are also integrated into the frame of the bicycle.
