RAE Systems Launches AreaRAE-Gamma, Wireless Integrated Radiation and Hazardous Gas Detector
RF-equipped sensor enables real-time data transmission of VOC, toxic chemical and radiation data from HAZMAT accidents and terrorist incidents
SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA, Oct. 22 -/E-Wire/-- RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX:RAE), a leading provider of hazardous environment detection solutions for homeland defense, today announced the launch of AreaRAE-Gamma, the market's first integrated gas and radiation detector equipped with an RF modem that enables a single unit or a networked system of units to communicate on a real-time basis with incident commanders at a remotely located base controller.
"In the seconds after a HAZMAT accident or terrorist incident, better data drives better response, and that means better safety," said Robert Chen, CEO of RAE Systems. "Front line first responders and remotely located incident commanders must have accurate data about the types of hazards they face without deciding which sensor to deploy, and the AreaRAE-Gamma integrates the cutting-edge PID, LEL, electrochemical and radiation monitoring needed for accurate and comprehensive situation assessment."
The AreaRAE-Gamma is the latest offering in RAE Systems' proven line of AreaRAE IAQ and AreaRAE GPS products, widely accepted as the de facto choice of first responders around the country. The AreaRAE GPS products were successfully demonstrated in real world conditions at the TOPOFF II terrorism drills in early 2003.
The AreaRAE Gamma's radiation dose rate unit can be displayed in micron rems/hour or micron Sieverts/hour. Other standard features include up to four gas sensors (PID, LEL and two electrochemical toxic gas sensors); a built-in pump; interchangeable Li-ion or alkaline battery pack; and a rugged weather proof housing. AreaRAE-Gamma transmits on a license-free ISM band and has a communication range of up to two miles.
RAE Systems is demonstrating the AreaRAE-Gamma at the ISA Expo (booth #1617) in Houston, Texas on October 21-23 and at the U.S. Maritime Security Expo in New York City on October 29-30. For more details on each event, please visit www.raesystems.com.
RAE Systems Inc. is the leader in rapidly deployable sensing networks for homeland defense and a leading manufacturer of portable, wireless and fixed atmospheric monitors, photo-ionization detectors, radiation detectors, gas detection tubes, sampling pumps and security monitoring devices. The company's customers use RAE Systems products to monitor gas and other volatile organic compounds in confined spaces, to establish a perimeter security around hazardous material sites and to detect the illicit traffic of radioactive materials.
RAE Systems' customers operate in such industries as safety and security, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, utilities, food, chemical, airlines, military and hazardous material storage and disposal, and its monitors are used in civilian and government atmospheric monitoring programs in over 40 countries.
