Pressure Pulsing Technology Outperforms Conventional Injection Practices
CANADA, Nov. 6 -/E-Wire/-- Wavefront Energy and Environmental Services Inc. (the "Company"), a provider of innovative technologies for fluid flow optimization and monitoring processes, is pleased to announce that its Pressure Pulse Technology ("PPT") has outperformed conventional injection technologies in a paid comparative study with Metrix Inc. of Denver, CO under subcontract to Envirocon Inc. for the injection of a bromide tracer in very low permeable sandy silt in Broomfield, Colorado. Envirocon is part of the Washington Group of Companies of Missoula, MN providing environmental remediation, civil construction, and demolition services from locations across the United States. The comparative study compared equal volumes of the bromide tracer being injected by (1) static or conventional pressure injection, and (2) PPT injection, which was monitored in eleven (11) site wells.
The objectives of the program were to determine the rate at which fluids could be injected (under pressure), as well as measure the radius of influence of the injected fluids. Of importance was the distribution of the tracer in the subsurface and the time taken for the tracer to reach eleven independent real-time monitoring points. PPT outperformed conventional injection practices having the distribution of the bromide seen in monitoring wells both up gradient and down gradient from the injection point and in a larger number of well points. Whereas conventional injection distribution was limited to down gradient wells with a scattering of wells showing limited traces of bromide. Additionally, PPT injection of the bromide tracer was seen in the independent monitoring wells in half the time taken using conventional injection.
Based on the successful results, a full-scale remedial action program using PPT is now being planned. Management believes that PPT's injection capabilities will expedite remedial processes, reducing long-term risks and obligations, and allowing for earlier exit strategies from contaminated sites.
