CINERGY RECOGNIZES SUPPLIERS FOR GOOD WORKS

CINCINNATI, OHIO, Dec. 1 -/E-Wire/-- Cinergy Corp., the parent company of The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company and PSI Energy, Inc., has recognized three of its suppliers for good works that benefit the environment, their communities, and their operations.

A Cinergy review committee comprised of environmental and other specialists selected the companies for the first Cinergy Sustainable Supplier Awards. The selection process reviewed suppliers for environmental improvement, social responsibility and economic development. In honor of each supplier, Cinergy made donations to the not-for-profit organizations selected by the winners. The suppliers receiving the 2003 awards are:

Overall Sustainable Supplier Award Air Products & Chemicals Inc., Allentown, Pennsylvania

For the fourth consecutive year, Air Products has led its industry for having the lowest environmental incident rate among large chemical companies. Air Product's environmental programs also are showing results: a 30 percent decline in incidents last year, Toxic Release Inventory emissions down 82 percent the last 15 years, and hazardous waste disposals down 14 percent in the past year. Air Products also took serious steps to protect its communities and employees following the 2001 terrorist attacks. The company centralized its security operations, developed a vulnerability tool that has been adopted by other companies, and intensified employee security training. Cinergy is contributing $1,000 donation to the Wildlands Conservancy on behalf of Air Products & Chemicals.

Social Responsibility Award AT&T;, Atlanta, Georgia

Cinergy selected AT&T; for its service to all stakeholders through: community relations; diversity management; environmental practices; and customer, employee and shareholder relations. Especially noteworthy are the AT&T; Cares Program, which funds a paid day-off for employees who volunteer, and AT&T;'s affiliation with numerous minority business councils throughout the country. Cinergy is making a $500 donation in AT&T;'s honor to the National Association for Environmental Management.

Honorable Mention Boise Cascade, Boise Idaho

Boise earns recognition for a comprehensive, well-rounded emergency preparedness and response program developed for environmental accidents. The plan outlines steps to effectively and quickly respond to events and contain their severity. Cinergy is donating $500 to The City of Hope on behalf of Boise Cascade.

"We chose these suppliers because they demonstrate that good works can sustain you in business," said John Stowell, Cinergy's vice president of federal legislative affairs. "This program helps us develop and reward a core of environmentally and socially conscious suppliers who also excel in their industries."

Cinergy Corp. is one of the nation's leading energy companies, serving 1.5 million electric customers and about 500,000 gas customers through its regulated utility operations. In 2003 Cinergy was named to the Dow Jones World Sustainability Indexes, an international benchmark for excellence in social, economic and environmental leadership. Selected in the first year it applied, Cinergy's overall score in the utility category was the highest rating for any U.S. utility.
