Ban Sale of Exotic Animals as Pets or Food

Says Declaration Signed by Scientists from 10 Countries

PALISADES, NEW YORK, Jan. 12 -/E-Wire/-- The Wildlife Trust Alliance – a group of scientists representing 10 countries and led by the Wildlife Trust of Palisades, New York – will issue a declaration calling for the ban of all global trade in exotic animals as pets or food.

The group, meeting in Bangalore, India on January 12th through 15th, says that SARS, Ebola, Monkeypox and an escalating number of diseases are jumping from the animal kingdom to humans because of the sale of exotic animals as pets and food – as well as unsafe ecological practices – around the globe.

The Declaration will be issued on Wednesday, January 14th, along with a press release.
