AndEarth.com Helps Protect Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
CALIFORNIA, MONTEREY, Mar. 19 -/E-Wire/-- AndEarth.com has partnered with Save Our Shores to raise funds to support the clean-up of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary beaches. Save Our Shores is an environmental group located in Santa Cruz that is dedicated to the preservation and health of the coastal environment of Monterey Bay. They were chosen as an important environmental project by AndEarth.com, and featured on the AndEarthToday email newsletter. The newsletter, which is published twice a week, uses advertising revenue to pay for environmental projects all over the world. Subscription is free, and anyone can join at www.andearth.com.
The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is the United States' largest national park, containing the most diverse collection of marine habitats and one of the largest underwater canyons and closest-to-shore deep ocean environments in North America. It is especially vulnerable to waste on the beach because polluting materials are extremely damaging to deep oceans that are close to the shoreline. Rainfall collects and flushes many kinds of material, including oil, grease, coolants, metals, pet droppings and litter into the sea. Using funds from the AndEarthToday newsletter, a full year of beach cleanups has been arranged to remove these items from the shores before they can do any permanent damage. In addition, all the refuse collected will be catalogued, a process that helps to identify polluters and prevent future incidents.
AndEarth.com, which is located in Atherton, California, is committed to raising funds for non-profit environmental organizations from all over the world. Their projects have ranged from a restoration project on the San Bruno Mountain, to their current effort to protect the Steppe ecosystem in Patagonia. It is free to join, and every subscriber to the AndEarthToday newsletter helps raise advertising revenues to pay for projects.
