Wavefront Energy and Environmental Receives Pilot Contract for Pump and Treat Application

Pilot Study at Maspeth Substation in Queens, NY to Accelerate Contaminant Removal

CANADA, Jan. 14 -/E-Wire/-- Wavefront Energy and Environmental Services Inc. (the "Company"), a provider of innovative technologies for fluid flow optimization and monitoring processes, is pleased to announce the implementation of Wavefront's Pressure Pulse Technology (PPT) with Jacques Whitford Company Inc., Environmental, Geotechnical and Risk Management Consultants of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The one-week pilot study will be conducted at Consolidated Edison's Maspeth Substation in Queens, NY to assess the efficacy of PPT. PPT will be combined with water injection, to increase the recovery rate of a contaminant impacting groundwater quality. Results of the study will be compared to water injection without PPT with a view to determine how PPT can be used to reduce the overall time and lifecycle costs of the proposed environmental remediation plan for the Maspeth site. Wavefront hopes to replicate the results of a previous program that accelerated the removal of an in-ground contaminant by a factor in excess of 250% and allowed the Company to obtain its Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Certificate.

Export Development Canada, in the summer 2003 edition of ExportWise, estimated that the United States government spends approximately $1.4 billion annually for cleanup of toxic waste sites. The article also estimates that the global waste cleanup market is more then $100 billion per year with many countries experiencing growth in the 20 percent range.
