ARCADIS Selected to Provide NASA with Guaranteed Remediation Services for $14.6 Million Contract
EUROPE, Feb. 9 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- ARCADIS (NASDAQ:ARCAF, EURONEXT:ARCAD), the international consultancy and engineering company, today announced that it has been selected to provide guaranteed remediation services for the City of Downey, California at the 64-acre site of a previous National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. Remediation of the site in support of the planned commercial and healthcare redevelopment will be performed under ARCADIS' Guaranteed Remediation Program (GRiP(R)). The total contract amount is $14.6 million.
The site was the former home of the NASA Downey Industrial Plant. The facility was used for more than 70 years for aircraft manufacturing, research, production and the assembly of rockets and missiles for a number of programs, including the Apollo Program and the Space Shuttle. During the 70-year period, hazardous substances were stored, used and inadvertently released on the site. Pollutants have been detected in soils and the groundwater. The remediation will be provided by ARCADIS.
The contract will be implemented through a guaranteed fixed price remediation approach under a performance-based contract focused on achieving regulatory closure for environmental issues. The remediation effort will include engineering and construction services.
"ARCADIS is looking forward to supporting the City of Downey and all of the stakeholders in this important remediation effort," said Harrie Noy, chairman of the executive board. "We have a long heritage of providing services to federal and industrial clients and are one of the few global consulting firms who can offer a full spectrum of guaranteed environmental remediation and redevelopment capabilities under one firm. I think that the award of this contract reinforces our record of proven performance as an innovative environmental consultant."
