Energy Crisis Relief – 500 – Megawatts to be Gained in California from Unexpected Source

LightPanel Technologies, LLC Introduces the Next Generation in Energy Efficient Emergency EXIT Sign Technology

WEST LEBANON, NEW HAMPSHIRE, Mar. 21 -/E-Wire/-- LightPanel Technologies, LLC has introduced the next generation in energy efficient emergency EXIT sign technology utilizing the LightPanel™ lamp. If all exit signs in California were to be upgraded with the LightPanel™, then nearly 500-megawatts of electrical energy would be made available – starting immediately without adding any pollutants into the environment.

The LightPanel™ is rated at 1/5th of a watt in electrical energy consumption compared to as much as 50 watts per exit sign being used in many California facilities today. It is estimated that California has 12-13 million exit signs in use at an average power consumption of 40 watts each. The electrical power consumption in the state can be reduced by up to 500 megawatts, if all exit signs utilizing inefficient illumination sources, such as incandescent bulbs, would be changed to the ultra efficient LightPanel™ illumination technology. The reduction in power would be equal to the amount generated by a typical power plant. Payback for switching to the LightPanel™ can be realized in as little as 7 months or less after installation depending on the consumer energy cost. Some of the most notable benefits derived from the use of a LightPanel™ Exit Sign product include energy savings of as much as 99½ percent while being maintenance-free for 30 years with unsurpassed illumination uniformity for readability and safety.

It is estimated that there are about 15 million illuminated Emergency EXIT Signs marking the means of egress in California buildings today. Exit signs are required by code to be continuously illuminated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the safety of building occupants. Most of us do not notice exit signs during the course of a normal day and rarely experience emergency situations that require finding the means of egress quickly. Therefore, it is crucial to have a reliable, clearly marked means of escape in case of power outages, fire and other disasters, such as earthquakes, that may place you in total darkness.

LightPanel Technologies, LLC has developed the most energy efficient and uniformly illuminated emergency exit sign products available. The projected usable life of its products is 30 years based on historical data collected over the 60 years since the development of the original version of the technology. This basic lighting technology has been used for over 30 years on the exterior of tactical military aircraft as safety lighting for night formation flying. LightPanel Technologies has made significant improvements in performance while reducing the manufacturing cost of a technology that has been in use by the military. The maintenance-free solid-state reliability along with phenomenal energy savings makes the LightPanel™ Exit Sign products the superior choice for egress marking in commercial, residential, institutional and manufacturing buildings.

LightPanel™ exit products have been saving energy and maintenance cost while adding an extra measure of safety from proven reliability in many buildings throughout the country for the past five years. The engineers at LightPanel™ continue in their pursuit of more energy efficient and cost effective products.
