Weston Expands Ports and Water Resources Capabilities with Acquisition of MEC Analytical Systems, Inc.

WEST CHESTER, PENNSYLVANIA, Mar. 29 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON(R)), a leading environment and redevelopment firm, today announced the completion of its purchase of MEC Analytical Systems, Inc. a West Coast multi-disciplinary water resources consulting firm, with a reported 2003 gross revenue of approximately $7.5 million.

The acquisition of MEC significantly expands WESTON's portfolio of solutions in the ports and waterways, water resources, and municipal water/wastewater markets. With offices near San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle, MEC enhances WESTON's long-established presence in southern and northern California, as well as the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, WESTON's extensive geographic and technical resource base will provide MEC employees a broad arena for growth and development while expanding their client base.

"MEC is the perfect fit for WESTON to better serve our mutual clients," stated Patrick G. McCann, WESTON President and Chief Executive Officer. "The combined technology, resources and expertise of WESTON and MEC will complement our current offerings to existing clients, and expand our geographic presence. The acquisition will enable us to deliver the comprehensive set of solutions our customers require from assessment through design, construction and operations, particularly within the ports and waterways and water resources markets. The culture and attitude of the roughly 50 employees at MEC are similar to WESTON's. They are absolutely committed to providing quality services to their clients in a highly responsive manner. We look forward to bringing them on board."

MEC was founded in 1975 by oceanographers and marine biologists, including President and CEO, Art Barnett, Ph.D. The company has a successful history providing environmental and toxicological services for private sector clients and federal, state and municipal government agencies. MEC's leading edge aquatic toxicity laboratory capabilities will complement and expand WESTON's support to their strategic clients.
