Sonic commences regulatory approval tests

CANADA, May. 19 -/E-Wire/-- Adam R. Sumel, President and CEO of Sonic Environmental Solutions Inc. (SNV.TSX Venture) is pleased to announce that the Company has now received its air emissions permit for demonstration testing of Sonic's PCB destruction process from the Greater Vancouver Regional District ("GVRD"). Pursuant to our news release dated March 17th 2004 where the Company stated that the Provincial Ministry of Land, Water and Air Protection (Ministry) had permitted us to commence testing after April 1st 2004, Sonic was required to undergo a public posting for a 30 day public comment period. This 30 day period was successfully concluded on April 17th, 2004. The Company now has all required permits and authorizations to commence the demonstration testing for regulatory approval of our proprietary PCB destruction process for commercial use in British Columbia.

Sonic will commence the demonstration tests as soon as the required bodies involved in the testing are coordinated. A total of three tests will be monitored and reported to the Ministry as part of a formal request for approval of our process for commercial use. Much of the core process is already at full scale and has been proven in development. Exhaustive emissions and treatment samples will be taken for analysis to replicate the results previously obtained and independently validated.

The Company completed commissioning of Plant One last month, on schedule, and is now able to conduct monitored treatment of PCB contaminated soils as required by the Ministry. The Ministry requires all treatment processes to undergo independent monitored testing to demonstrate that the treatment is effective and otherwise in compliance with treatment regulations for the Province.

Mr. Sumel stated "Although it has taken longer to receive the GVRD permit then we expected, we are still on-track for commercial operation this year. Sonic has effectively utilized the past month to complete Plant One commissioning and test each facet of our process design. This knowledge will greatly benefit the engineering and construction of our full scale commercial PCB destruction facility (Plant Two). We appreciate the cooperation and enthusiasm of all those involved in the granting of the required permits".

Detailed engineering of Plant Two is moving ahead rapidly under the direction of Mr. Wes Young, VP Engineering and Construction, who joined Sonic in May to accelerate this phase of our operations.

The Company has issued 25,000 options priced at the close on May 17th 2004.
