Prasentia and Siemens Announce Formal Collaboration Providing Wind Power Plant Management Systems

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, Jun. 17 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- Prasentia and Siemens Energy & Automation announced today the execution of an Advanced Integrator Agreement, whereby the two parties agreed to the development, integration, configuration and implementation of the Siemens SIMATIC IT software products into Prasentia's wind power industry service offerings.

Prasentia chose to standardize on the Siemens-based system for numerous reasons, including scalability, wind turbine technology independence, sub-second data frequency, open-architecture with ease of integration, security, high availability/online rates, as well as the reliability and long-term commitment of Siemens (NYSE:SI) as a company. Under the terms of the agreement, Prasentia will market, sell, and implement the Siemens SIMATIC IT software for the wind power industry in the United States and select international markets.

"We are pleased to be working with Siemens to provide the wind industry with best-of-breed technology for optimizing the performance and economics of wind power plants," said Dave Roberts, Prasentia's president. "Siemens is a world-class technology provider. By combining world-class technology with Prasentia's extensive wind power management experience, we can equip our customers with the best tools to manage their wind farms."

"Siemens recognizes Prasentia's leadership and innovation in wind power management. The Prasentia solution is an outstanding example of how the SIMATIC IT products can be applied to provide real-time decision-support in a specific industry context. We are proud to announce this partnership, and we are looking forward to positive results for our clients in this space," stated Khris Kammer, U.S. product manager for the Siemens SIMATIC IT product.

Beyond any on-board SCADA and Data Analysis/Reporting tools provided by the turbine vendors, the Prasentia-configured system offers its users an unbiased source of project data, as well as confidence through portfolio-wide data collection, validation, analysis and reporting processes. The Prasentia wind farm management application, allows all pertinent parties to remotely access data on a real-time basis, 24 hours a day, from anywhere an Internet connection is available. The standard data points include such parameters as turbine component performance, wind speed, temperature, direction, and generation, and are user-configurable for customized requirements. The system provides the data to users, allowing them to develop accurate, thorough and easy-to-analyze reports that equip the owner, operator and manufacturer with information that improves the decision making process surrounding scheduling, maintenance, availability, down-time and warranty-related conditions.

Prasentia was founded in May of 2003, for the purpose of providing truly independent data applications and services to third party owner and operators. Recognizing the increasingly significant impacts of maximizing uptime on utility-scale wind projects, Prasentia offers industry-leading information systems, tools, and data analyses to the wind power industry, providing transparent and independent turbine, project and portfolio analyses. Prasentia currently supports 11 projects in North America, totaling over 470 MW.
