Target and OfficeMax Environmental Executives to Lead Green Products Network Development
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, Sep. 14 -/E-Wire/-- Pat Perry, group manager for environmental services at Target Corporation, has been elected chair of the Buy Recycled Business Alliance (BRBA) Steering Committee. Joining her as the Committee's vice chair is Susan A. Mills, manager, environmental practices, OfficeMax. The BRBA is a national non-profit consortium dedicated to the advancement of environmentally preferable products emphasizing recycled content.
The announcement was made today by Kate Krebs, executive director of the National Recycling Coalition, a founding partner of the BRBA.
According to Dobbin Callahan, outgoing chair and marketing manager, the government sector, at Tandus, a leading floorcoverings company, "Both Pat and Sue bring a great vitality and intelligence to the task of bringing the BRBA to its next stage of growth. We are delighted with the election of both women to their new posts and look forward to an exciting future."
The Steering Committee, the elite leadership group that guides the BRBA, has been a leading voice for recycled-content issues since 1992. It is expanding its initiatives to create a global network, bringing together the latest information, advocacy and training on green product research, development and procurement.
With Target Corporation, Ms. Perry and her group oversee environmental compliance and programs, which includes due diligence for acquiring new store locations, waste management, industrial hygiene and recycling programs.
Prior to joining Target, Ms. Perry was an environmental consultant to the industrial and commercial sectors. She is a member of the ASTM E50 Committee, the National Recycling Coalition and is a board member of National Association of Environmental Managers. Ms. Perry is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and resides in Deephaven, Minn.
Target, one of the nation's leading retailers, is based in Minneapolis, Minn. Ms. Mills joined OfficeMax (then Boise Office Solutions) in 2002. Prior to this appointment, she served as Director of Environmental Affairs at International Paper (IP) and Champion International Corporation, later acquired by IP in 2000. In addition to BRBA, Ms. Mills serves on the board of directors for the National Association for Environmental Management.
Before joining the private sector, Ms. Mills served as Assistant Dean and Director of Undergraduate Programs in the College of Business Administration, University of Cincinnati, (Ohio) and on the faculties of Old Dominion University and University of Vermont.

BRBA is a non-profit organization of progressive companies and partners, with the mission of fostering the development and procurement of green products and services, emphasizing recycled content.
