Wildlife Trust Appoints Robert R. Lane as VP for External Relations
Newly-created Position Oversees Resource Development,
Marketing and Communications
PALISADES, NEW YORK, Oct. 27 -/E-Wire/-- Wildlife Trust, the premier international organization working to understand the links between ecosystem, wildlife and human health, has named Robert R. Lane Vice President for External Relations. In his new role, Mr. Lane is responsible for Wildlife Trust's fundraising, branding, marketing and communications initiatives.
In making the announcement, Dr. Mary C. Pearl, President of Wildlife Trust, says, "Bob brings a wealth of experience, leadership, energy and creativity to this newly-created position. We are in an aggressive growth mode, and Bob's proven skill in building relationships in the private and corporate sectors is a vital component of our expansion plans."
Sandra E. Peterson, Chairman of the Wildlife Trust Board of Directors, says, "Wildlife Trust is at a critical juncture in our role as a leader in conservation medicine. With the rise of emerging animal-to-human diseases around the world, and increased concern about the impact of environmental health on human well-being, our research is on the front lines. The new External Relations effort, led by Bob Lane, will help disseminate our research more broadly to more audiences, and will help develop needed funding for the expansion of our work."
"Wildlife Trust is making unique and valuable scientific contributions, both domestically and globally, to the fields of conservation science and conservation medicine," says Mr. Lane. Noting that philanthropy is defined as serving the greater good of humanity, "there is no doubt that the work of Wildlife Trust - empowering local conservation scientists worldwide to protect nature and safeguard ecosystem health - answers that call." He adds, "Wildlife Trust fills a major void within the conservation world. I am proud to join such an important, well-respected organization. We have much to do."
Previously, Robert Lane spent his career at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, where he was most recently Vice President for Development. He was responsible for fund-raising and alumni affairs for the Institute's Hudson Valley and Napa Valley campuses. Mr. Lane also oversaw all communications activities supporting development and alumni affairs initiatives.
A graduate of Binghamton University, Mr. Lane is Chairman of the Board of the Astor Home for Children's Fund, and a Board Member of Mount Saint Mary College and the Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress, a planning and development organization of the Hudson Valley, among other institutions.
