FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cut in OPEC production, looming energy crisis spur consumers to generate their own electricity
Solardyne.com gives consumers the tools to become energy independent with solar, wind systems
TEXAS, DALLAS, Mar. 26 -/E-Wire/-- An announcement last week that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) could soon decrease oil production yet again has underscored the need for U.S. consumers to take power generation into their own hands.
This development, which comes just days after a 4 percent production cut by OPEC, has increased the likelihood that U.S. residential and business utility customers will face staggered energy bills this summer. The White House already has warned that the East faces rolling brownouts in the coming months, while California will continue to face the danger of blackouts.
"The last time consumers really focused on solar and wind power was during the energy crisis of the late 1970s," said Toby Kinkaid, founder and CEO for Solardyne Corp., a developer and online retailer of reliable renewable energy technology and high-efficiency appliances. "Now, 20 years later, our country is facing some of the same issues with shortages and high prices. The difference is that solar and wind technologies have come into their own, and the economics behind them make sense for consumers."
To make solar energy more accessible for consumers and companies, Solardyne Corporation configures solar and wind power systems for homes and businesses.
"With new solar technologies, there is no reason for consumers to be subject to steep increases in electricity costs," Kinkaid said.
The cost of wind-generated electricity has fallen from 38 cents per kilowatt-hour in the early 1980s to 3 to 6 cents today, according to the American Wind Energy Association. And similar decreases in the cost of solar energy has made renewable power more attractive than ever before. As a result, the use of wind power has been increasing at a rate of 24 percent a year over the past decade, while use of solar energy has gone up 17 percent a year.
"In the past, consumers would avoid the up-front costs associated with renewable power technologies, instead preferring to pay monthly utility bills," Kinkaid said. "But with all the information we have now about inadequate energy supply and pollution, consumers now are choosing to buy solar and wind power systems, freeing themselves from electricity bills indefinitely."
Solardyne provides a full line of solar and wind power systems, as well as portable solar technologies, through its web site at www.solardyne.com.
