Louis Bloemen joins ENVIRON Netherlands

EUROPE, Mar. 2 -/E-Wire/-- Ian Bailey, President of ENVIRON's European division, is pleased to announce that Louis J. Bloemen, M.Sc., M.P.H., has joined the firm as a Principal in the Zeist office. In making the announcement, Bailey remarked, "Louis's association is an exciting development for ENVIRON and significantly expands the range of health sciences services that we can offer to our European and US clients, building on our existing chemicals registration and verification business in The Netherlands."

Bloemen brings to ENVIRON over 25 years of international consulting experience in biochemistry, epidemiology, and risk assessment of a variety of industrial chemicals. He has consulted within a major multinational chemical company and to industry associations and scientific task forces on epidemiology, biological monitoring, and experimental mechanistic human studies, primarily focused on hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, polyurethanes, and oxygenated solvents. He also specifically addressed data gaps by designing, setting up and running the appropriate clinical and epidemiological studies.

"Bloemen's rich experience in effectively negotiating issues with regulators at country and EU levels has generated a wide range of valuable contacts," commented Bailey. A member of a governmental occupational exposure limit-setting committee, Bloemen has published on topics such as epidemiology, metabolism, and occupational exposure, and serves as a reviewer for Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology; European Journal of Occupational Health; Toxicology Letters; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; and Archives of Epidemiology.

"Together with our existing team of toxicologists, we are now well placed to serve all of our clients' needs in the expanding health sciences field," adds Bailey.
