2005 Byproducts Beneficial Use Summit to Be Held November 29-30
AKRON, OHIO, Apr. 13 -/E-Wire/Business Wire/-- Waste News, the leading news source about waste and pollution management, announced that the 2005 Byproducts Beneficial Use Summit will be held November 29-30 at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza in Philadelphia.
"The 2005 Byproducts Beneficial Use Summit is designed to bring regulators, generators, and end users together to explore opportunities to increase the beneficial use of industrial byproducts," stated Mike Giuranna, environmental engineer with EPA Region 3. The Summit also encourages state regulators to share information and experiences on beneficial use regulations and determination processes. In addition, industries share experiences on navigating the regulator process and discuss potential to utilize each other's byproducts, Giuranna said.
Topics for this year's event include market development tools that are available for industrial byproducts, successful beneficial use case studies, regulatory approaches and research results.
The event, which is in its fourth year, is sponsored by Waste News and the EPA Office of Solid Waste, Regions 2, 3 and 5. Cooperating organizations participating on the agenda committee include state regulators from Pennsylvania and Virginia and several industry representatives.
"Waste News is excited about partnering with the EPA on this event for the second year. We think that there is a great deal of potential regarding beneficial use of byproducts. It's our hope that this event will build a foundation for cooperation between industry players and regulators that will advance this area," said Glen Stout, Waste News vice president/publisher.
