Ahura's DecisionEngine(TM) 2.0 Software Features Mixture Analysis

Offers Instant Results Across an Effective Library of Billions of Chemicals

WILMINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS, Sep. 19 -/E-Wire/-- Ahura Corporation, a manufacturer of rugged intelligent Raman systems for field-portable analysis, is now shipping DecisionEngine 2.0 software for its FirstDefender product line. The new software release is being made available free of charge to all Ahura customers and increases the capability of the already powerful FirstDefender. DecisionEngine 2.0 offers a 10-fold improvement in analysis speed, more than 100 new chemical signatures and the instant analysis mixtures or composite substances.

DecisionEngine 2.0 provides the first spectroscopic chemical identification system with the ability to identify not only chemicals using the on-board signature library but mixtures of chemicals, too. This mixture analysis capability gives the FirstDefender an effective library of billions of possible combinations and concentrations.

In the real world, the first responder encounters unknown mixtures and contaminated substances. Until today, spectroscopic identification techniques were limited to known substances built into a library. With the FirstDefender and the release of DecisionEngine 2.0, the first responder is able to effectively identify up to five components of a mixture. The mixture software has been tested by the US Army on Vx mixed with diesel fuel, floor wax, Windex, and AFFF. The results of these mixtures were available in seconds without relying on error-prone spectral subtraction routines or the need to wait up to two hours for answers from other manufacturers' highly trained spectroscopists. This is especially important for military groups on missions that might have to wait for long periods of time to receive results from these services.

The FirstDefender is ideal for emergency situations demanding a rapid assessment of potentially hazardous materials including toxic industrial chemicals, explosives, chemical warfare agents, and narcotics. These results are available instantly even when the material is diluted or mixed with benign substances.

This major breakthrough was announced by Dr. Daryoosh Vakhshoori, Founder and President: "With the DecisionEngine 2.0 software the FirstDefender does the heavy lifting for our users, delivering reliable analytical performance with literally the push of a button. These revolutionary patent pending algorithms provide first responders with accurate information to aid in their decisions on-scene in real-time. This handheld unit provides immediate information in the harshest of environments and does so without requiring user intervention or consultation with a highly trained spectroscopist."
