Sea Gull Lighting Celebrates October 5th - 'ENERGY STAR Change a Light, Change the World Day'
RIVERSIDE, NEW JERSEY, Sep. 28 -/E-Wire/-- In an effort to help to save energy, money, and reduce greenhouse emissions, Sea Gull Lighting Products, Inc. (www.seagulllighting.com) has partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy in asking Americans to pledge to replace one light at home with an energy-efficient model as part of their Wednesday, October 5th ENERGY STAR Change a Light, Change the World Day campaign.
The ENERGY STAR label, which designates products that have met strict energy efficiency criteria and prevent greenhouse gas emissions, as determined by the U.S. government, is one of the easiest ways for consumers to start saving money, while doing their part to help the environment. As ENERGY STAR Partner Of The Year for the past two-years, Sea Gull Lighting proudly remains in the forefront of this ever-growing initiative by designing fashion inspired lighting collections for the home, that employ the latest advances in energy efficient technology.
The Change a Light, Change the World campaign is a national educational campaign run in partnership with hundreds of retail stores, energy efficiency organizations, and state governments. The campaign takes place during Energy Awareness Month and coincides around the transition to Daylight Saving Time; an appropriate time to change a light.
"You typically spend more to light your home than you do to operate your refrigerator all year long. If you're still using traditional incandescent bulbs and inefficient fixtures, you're wasting a lot of energy and moneyâand creating a lot of unnecessary pollution", says Jeffrey Beiter, Director of Energy Efficient Products for Sea Gull Lighting Products, Inc.
To demonstrate its commitment, Sea Gull Lighting has made it easy for individuals to take the ENERGY STAR pledge at its web site www.SeaGullLighting.com. Here, the lighting manufacturer will join the nation as it proclaims the desire to change at least one light at home to an ENERGY STAR model. The site will also visually demonstrate how a small step can help preserve our energy resources and environment, when we take this step together.
Here are some helpful Energy-efficiency facts:
-- Nearly 20 percent of our nation's residential electricity use goes toward lighting, and it is one of the easiest areas in which consumers can save money.
-- Consumers can save an estimated $60 per year in energy costs by replacing the most frequently used light fixtures in their homes with models that have earned the ENERGY STAR for energy efficiency label.
-- Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) last six to 10 times longer than standard incandescent light bulbs and about $25 in energy costs over the life of each bulb.
October 5, 2005 marks the official kickoff of the national Change a Light, Change the World educational campaign. Join us in making a difference this year.
