Bioenergy, Inc. Positions Itself for Growth

With New Patents and Additions to Management Staff

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, Feb. 1 -/E-Wire/-- Bioenergy, Inc. announces that the U.S. Patent Office has issued two patents covering the ability of Bioenergy Ribose(TM) to boost energy during and after exercise as well as during recovery from illness, and to prevent muscular soreness and cramping in both athletic and medical situations. Both patents have domestic and international applications.

Ribose is a simple, 5-carbon monosaccharide, or pentose sugar, used to stimulate natural energy production when added to the diet. Large amounts of ATP, the body's primary energy-carrying molecule, can be lost from heart and skeletal muscle cells during exercise or periods of restricted circulation affecting tissue function. Produced by the body as a building block of ATP, ribose allows the body to quickly replenish lost ATP energy stores. Studies show that ribose can increase both de novo (new) synthesis and salvage rates of energy molecules. Supplemental ribose, taken in recommended amounts before, during and after exercise, will help maintain high ATP energy levels.

U.S. Patent No. 6,159,942, issued Dec. 12, 2000, covers Bioenergy Ribose as a method for increasing energy levels in people during exercise or during recovery from illnesses such as infection, trauma or burn. When taken at the appropriate time and in the proper amounts, Bioenergy Ribose helps provide the needed fuel for working cells by increasing the rate at which stressed cells replace ATP.

The second patent, U.S. Patent No. 6,159,943, also issued Dec. 12, protects the use of Bioenergy Ribose as a method of preventing cramping and soreness in skeletal muscles of mammals. Bioenergy Ribose, taken in proper amounts and at the appropriate time, provides the fuel that muscles need to do work and helps replenish ATP levels quicker, thereby eliminating the cramping and soreness associated with exercise-induced muscle pain.

"These patents represent a milestone in Bioenergy's research,' says Clarence Johnson, CEO of Bioenergy, Inc. "They help solidify Bioenergy Ribose as a key nutritional supplement for products in the sports and fitness marketplace and provide valuable protection for medical nutritional applications. By using a supplement that contains the proper amount of Bioenergy Ribose, athletes and patients alikewill be able to increase energy and improve performance while decreasing the adverse side effects of muscle cramping and soreness that result from strenuous exercise or recovery. As our research continues, we anticipate additional breakthroughs in ribose technology.'

Two New Executives Named

Bioenergy, Inc. also has added two executives to its management staff. Terry Stewart joins the company as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and will lead all the corporate finance and development for Bioenergy.
