ARCHIVED 2003–2016 — Originally distributed via eWire press wire service] Sustainable Business Day at the Georgia Capitol ATLANTA, GEORGIA, Jan. 19 -/E-Wire/-- (Atlanta) Senator Jeff Mullis, Representative Pat Gardner, Georgia's Department of Economic Development, and Sustainable Business Partners will host Sustainable Business Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, January 25 from 8:30 am to 1pm. Inspiring Futures will also be on hand to discuss the importance of local, sustainable businesses to the Georgia economy and also to help business leaders work together more effectively for the success of their companies through the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) Atlanta. Sustainable Business Day highlights innovative Georgia businesses that are contributing to the state's economic growth and at the same time reducing waste and improving air and water quality for all Georgians. Representative Pat Gardner, member of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environment, and Senator Jeff Mullis, Chair of the Senate Economic Development Committee, will introduce resolutions supporting the position that innovative businesses can help conserve resources that are crucial for the future of Georgia's economy. Georgia business owners will be available to answer questions about their companies. These businesses contribute to Georgia's economy by providing hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in annual revenues while protecting the environment and improving the quality of life in our state. "As more people move to Georgia, greater demands are placed on our natural resources," said Rep. Gardner. "I am introducing this resolution to make the point that it is time for our state's leadership to encourage innovation that accommodates the need for both economic development and environmental protection." "These businesses are models of innovation, environmental responsibility and good business operations," said Polly Sattler, President of Sustainable Business Partners, a resource center for sustainable business. "They turn problems into profit." Senator Mullis stated "Supporting businesses that improve air and water quality or that turn waste into valuable resources while making communities healthier is something that everyone can get behind. It will only make Georgia a better place to live." Sustainable Business Partners promotes and supports companies that create a profit while providing new products and services that not only use our natural resources creatively and efficiently but in some cases help to restore the environment. Sustainable Business Partners offers these companies marketing, strategic management and access to capital to help them increase their revenues and reach a larger market.
