EarthCare Announces Preliminary Earnings Results and Extension for Late Filing

TEXAS, DALLAS, Apr. 9 -/E-Wire/-- EarthCare Company (Nasdaq: ECCO) announced today its preliminary operating results for the year ended December 31, 2000 and also announced that it expects to file its Annual Report on Form 10-K on or before April 16, 2001. EarthCare filed a Form 12b-25 with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 3 requesting a 15-day extension to file its Annual Report on Form 10-K.

The Company expects to report revenues from continuing operations of approximately $37 million for the year ended December 31, 2000. EarthCare also expects to report a loss from continuing operations of approximately $6 million for 2000. In addition, EarthCare Company anticipates that it will report a loss from its discontinued operations of approximately $51 million. The loss from discontinued operations includes an operating loss from discontinued operations of approximately $11 million and a loss from the sale of its discontinued operations of approximately $40 million. EarthCare's management is in the process of completing its assessments of its discontinued operations and expects to make further announcements by the date that its Annual Report on Form 10-K is filed. As previously announced, EarthCare sold its Allen Tate software division at the end of October 2000 and incurred a $4.0 million loss on the sale. For the year ended December 31, 1999, EarthCare expects to report revenues from continuing operations of approximately $3 million and a loss from continuing operations of approximately $8 million.
