FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Itronics GOLD'n GRO Fertilizer Sales Increase 550 Percent

RENO, NEVADA, Apr. 10 -/E-Wire/-- Itronics Inc. (OTC:BB ITRO) said today that GOLD'n GRO fertilizer sales by its subsidiary, Itronics Metallurgical, Inc., increased 550 percent in March 2001 compared to the same month in the year 2000. March is considered a key month in fertilizer sales since it is the beginning of good weather in some parts of the country.

"During the first quarter we introduced our new sales people to the Western Farm Service sales organization, a major fertilizer marketing firm which handles GOLD'n GRO, and we received our first orders from Hawaii. GOLD'n GRO sales are expected to increase further when spring weather arrives," said Dr. John Whitney, Itronics President.

"GOLD'n GRO products continue to perform very well in the golf course and turf farm markets with a number of new customers being added by Western Farm Service in California," Dr. Whitney said. "The sales development program with Intermountain Farmers Association in southern Nevada was expanded during the first quarter with new customers being added and potential customers starting field trials."

Also during the first quarter, field trials were initiated for new crop market applications, including several different kinds of fruit trees, sweet corn, herbs, and cut flowers. Several of the field trials started in the year 2000 have been completed. The results are now generating new customers. "Itronics Metallurgical is receiving many inquiries from alfalfa hay growers and expects that this market will start to generate sales once the growing season is started," Dr. Whitney said.

Itronics Metallurgical, Inc. sells its popular Silver Nevada Miner bars and its high performance GOLD'n GRO fertilizer products, which can be used for lawns and plants at home, through its shopping cart catalog at the Company's Web site: http://www.itronics.com. GOLD'n GRO is produced after the silver and other heavy metals have been stripped from photowastes, making it a very environmentally beneficial fertilizer containing no heavy metals.

Itronics Inc. is one of Nevada's leading process technology development companies and a world leader in photochemical recycling. Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, it specializes in recycling technology development, photobyproduct recycling, silver refining, and technical services for the mining and recycling industries. Dr. John Whitney, Itronics President, was selected as Nevada's Inventor of the Year for 2000 and has become a member of the Inventor's Hall of Fame at the University of Nevada, Reno.
