GEMI Celebrates Earth Day 2001 with CD-ROM Gift to the World
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, Apr. 18 -/E-Wire/-- As part of its celebration of Earth Day 2001 the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI) today released its 10th Anniversary CD-ROM: "GEMI Reports & Publications: A Decade of EH&S; Tools." The CD-ROM contains all of GEMI's publications and reports developed in the years 1990-2000. The CD-ROM is available free of charge upon request.
"The 38 member companies of GEMI are pleased to announce that their gift to the world for Earth Day 2001 is a CD-ROM compilation of the reports and benchmarking efforts over the past decade," said Carol Cala, Director, HSE Consumer Imaging, Eastman Kodak Company, Chair of GEMI's Communication and Marketing Committee.
"We commend Jim Thomas, Executive Director, HS&E;, Novartis Corporation and Vice Chair of GEMI for his leadership, vision and persistence in leading this CD-ROM project," said Cala. "The environmental, health and safety (EHS) information in this new CD-ROM is remarkable and without Jim's efforts we would not be able to share this valuable collection of work around the world," stated Cala.
The CD-ROM contains sixteen GEMI publications and several benchmarking surveys on issues including: Interaction with the Corporate Board of Directors; Business EHS Cost Accounting Practices; Community Outreach; Information Management System; IMS Web-based Technologies; and Sustainability.
"We are proud of the efforts that have made GEMI's Earth Day gift to the world possible," added Rich Guimond, GEMI's Chair, Vice President and Corporate Director, EHS, Motorola, Inc. "As we celebrate Earth Day 2001, I commend EHS professionals around the world for the work they do everyday to improve our environment while producing products and services that continually improve the standard of living of millions of people around the globe," said Guimond.
