FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GreenMan Technologies Acquires Tennessee Tire Recyclers, Inc.
MASSACHUSETTS, LYNNFIELD, Apr. 19 -/E-Wire/-- GreenMan Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:GMTI; BSE:GMY) today announced that it has acquired the operating assets of Tennessee Tire Recyclers, Inc., ("TTRI') a Tennessee-based provider of engineering services to consumers of alternative fuels with multi-year contracts to provide whole tires as an alternative fuel to several of the largest cement companies in North America. TTRI also provides scrap tire collection and disposal services and is the largest tire collector in the state of Tennessee. Currently, TTRI provides scrap tire collection and disposal services in the states of Tennessee, Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma. The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
"The TTRI acquisition broadens our capabilities to participate in growing demands for alternative energy and raw material supply through beneficial use of scrap tires. TTRI has established a leadership role in providing engineering services for automating and mechanizing the use of whole tires at cement kilns to reduce emissions, lower fuel costs and provide needed iron oxide,' said Bob Davis, chief executive officer of GreenMan Technologies. "The TTRI acquisition brings to us a wealth of knowledge and experience in the area of whole tire consumption, which combined with our expertise in size reduction, will provide a widened spectrum of market demand for our scrap tire supply which will now approach 25 million passenger tire equivalents on an annualized basis.'
Tom Carter, President of Tennessee Tire Recyclers, Inc., said, "We are excited about becoming an integral part of GreenMan's future and believe our expertise in the area of whole tire recycling will complement GreenMan's existing business and provide a solid path for expanding GreenMan's alternative energy markets. Over the last two years, we have doubled our business, with the greatest hurdle to date being access to a sustainable tire supply. Our new relationship with GreenMan remedies this. With the combined expertise of our two organizations and over 120 cement kilns in North America, the opportunity in front of us today is exciting.'
