COLUMBUS, OHIO, Apr. 20 -/E-Wire/-- The board of directors of eGovNet, Inc., the Columbus, Ohio-based provider of e-government solutions and consulting services, announced today that David M. Cornell has been appointed the company's new president and chief executive officer.

Cornell has extensive experience in teaming business and government, having been the founder, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Cornell Companies, Inc. (ticker:CRN), one of the largest private corrections companies in the world. Cornell replaces Timothy R. Bartlett, founder of eGovNet, who will now become the company's chief business development strategist.

"We are extremely pleased that David Cornell will be leading eGovNet into its next growth phase,' stated Earl Gallegos, chairman of eGovNet's board of directors. "David is a leader and entrepreneur in the truest sense, and his 43 years of executive experience will help grow and manage this e-government pioneer into a real market leader,' added Gallegos.

Cornell's professional work has been focused on finance and construction development. Under his direction, Cornell's development teams generated successful correctional projects resulting in more than $500 million in construction and approximately $300 million in annual operating revenues. He also directed the acquisition and integration of six separate companies into Cornell Companies, Inc. Although Cornell retired as chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Cornell Companies, Inc., in 1999, he retains his seat on that company's board of directors.

"I am very excited about this opportunity to lead eGovNet and believe that my more than fifteen years of successfully implementing government contracts will be valuable to our customers, partners, and employees,' stated Cornell. "I am passionate about the promise of e-government. Under my leadership, eGovNet will continue to be a real innovator in this space,' added Cornell.
