AVeL-TECH Announces Contract with Motorola
to Provide Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Police Department with a Computer Aided Dispatch System
CANADA, QUEBEC, MONTREAL, Apr. 27 -/E-Wire/-- AVeL-TECH today announced that it had signed a contract with Motorola (NYSE:MOT) to supply a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system for the Washington Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Police Department. The Police Department has an authorized strength of 303 sworn and 23 civilian personnel. Officers provide a variety of law enforcement and public safety services on the Metrorail and Metrobus systems in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
WMATA announced last December, the signing of a major business initiative with Motorola to install a new Comprehensive Radio Communications System for the Agency's Police, Bus, Rail and Maintenance Departments.
Motorola will provide and install its Premier-MDC ⢠mobile data system to work in concert with the AVeL-TECH supplied AVeL-CADâ¢. This mobile data system provides public-safety users with wireless access to the CAD and record management systems.
The WMATA serves a population of 3.4 million people via rail and bus networks within a 1500 square mile area that includes Washington D.C. and parts of Maryland and Virginia.
