American Water Works Association Bestows Fuller Award To ZENON CEO
Dr. Benedek Chosen For Dedication To Improving Quality Of Drinking Water Worldwide
CANADA, May. 7 -/E-Wire/-- The American Water Works Association (AWWA) this morning presented Dr. Andrew Benedek, Chairman and CEO of ZENON Environmental Inc. (TSE:ZEN; TSE:ZEN.A), a leader in membrane technologies for water treatment, with this year's George Warren Fuller Award.
The Fuller Award recognizes the service of one of its members with respect to his/her engineering skill, diplomatic talent and leadership. In recognition of Dr. Benedek's distinguished service in the water supply field, Kathryn McCain, AWWA Vice President presented the award to ZENON's Founder, Chairman and CEO.
"Dr. Benedek was selected for three reasons,' stated Ms. McCain to an audience at the joint annual conference of the Ontario Water Works Association, a section of AWWA, and the Ontario Municipal Water Association. "For his vision over 20 years ago, in seeing a need for products that you and I would need now; his courage in developing those products long before there was the demand; and his leadership in bringing those products to our market, where they have been making a larger and larger impact on the drinking water profession worldwide.'
Dr. Benedek founded the company that has produced the proprietary ZeeWeed® membrane technology, which works as a filter preventing contaminants from entering the water supply. This technology has been proven to be effective in the removal of parasites such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia, viruses like E.coli, water borne bacteria and other solids.
Facing the threat of a Cryptosporidium outbreak, a number of municipalities, such as Collingwood in Ontario, chose the ZeeWeed® technology to safeguard their residents. The municipality of Walkerton, Ontario, where an outbreak of E.coli contaminated the drinking water in the community, also chose ZeeWeed technology to remedy the situation.
ZENON is a world leader in providing advanced membrane products and services for water purification, wastewater treatment and water reuse.
Chosen as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, the ZENON group of companies operates from nine locations in North America, six in Europe, and one in each of Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
ZENON's products and services are marketed for a variety of municipal and industrial applications through ZENON's offices and representatives located throughout the world.
