Environmental Awareness and Core Business Practices
DALLAS, TEXAS, May. 14 -/E-Wire/-- The third annual Sustainable Dallas Conference, set for May 18-19, 2001, will provide North Texas business leaders with information on integrating environmental responsibility into core business practices. Designed to showcase business-centered profitable and responsible solutions to sustainability, the conference will be of special interest to chief executive officers, operations managers, facilities managers, purchasing managers, environmental managers, and others interested in environmental stewardship.
The two-day conference will be held at the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development, 1402 Corinth Street. Registration begins 7:30 a.m. May 18 with the opening at 8:00 a.m. The conference will run until 5:00 p.m. on May 18th, and 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on May 19th.
Environmental sustainability is an endeavor that encourages a long-term, integrated and comprehensive approach to challenges of environmental stewardship, economic prosperity, and social and cultural aspects of quality of life," says Tom Kemper, conference co-chair, and CEO of Dolphin Blue, Inc. In a sustainable model, products that wear out are refined into their basic elements, and the basic elements are used to make new products.
Margie Haley, who co-chairs the conference with Kemper comments, "We have a very impressive lineup of speakers this year, including keynoter Joe Urso, chairman and CEO of Electrolux Corporation; Gordon Forward, chairman of UNI International; and Dr. Mathis Wackernagel from Redefining Progress." Urso will speak on "Sustainability: A Corporate Responsibility, Burden or Opportunity?"
Though targeted to business and community leaders who have the power to affect change in their organizations, the conference is open to the public. "Everyone has the power to be a positive influence in their personal and professional circles," says Kemper, "regardless of how large or small those circles are."
