Itronics Gold'n Gro Liquid Fertilizer Produces Significant Increase in the Output of Fresh Sweet Corn

NEVADA, RENO, May. 22 -/E-Wire/-- Itronics Inc.(OTC BB: ITRO) today reported that its subsidiary, Itronics Metallurgical, Inc., obtained significant, positive results from two Gold'n Gro fertilizer fresh sweet corn field application trials. The applications produced an 11.5 percent increase in output at a "Grade A" quality.

"These results are very promising," said Dr. John Whitney, Itronics President. "The tests were conducted on two fields, at two different grower locations, in southern California. Both trials used foliar spray application of GOLD'n GRO liquid fertilizer on selected test areas for corn already fertilized by the growers. In the first trial the corn was about 6 inches high at time of application and the subsequent yield was greater because of an increase in the number of ears per corn stalk. In the second trial the corn was 12 to 14 inches in height when GOLD'n GRO was applied and the yield increase was due to a larger number of ears reaching marketable size."

"The economics of using our fertilizer also proved to be very attractive," Dr. Whitney said. "The increase in value to the grower from the GOLD'n GRO applications was approximately 30 times the cost of fertilizer, including application, in the first trial, and was approximately seven times the cost of fertilizer and application in the second trial. The results of these field trials are being utilized to develop a GOLD'n GRO fertilizer program for fresh sweet corn that will be used in additional field trials and for commercial applications."

Dr. Whitney continued: "This an exciting new development for Itronics. These results also open up the potential for developing nutrition applications for other types of corn production."

California is one of the largest fresh sweet corn producing states with about 27,000 acres in production. Nationally, there are approximately 222,800 acres of fresh sweet corn and the value of the crop is almost $400 million, or $1,788 per acre, according to U.S. Department of Agricultural statistics.
