Thermal Energy Technology Solutions Referred to in U.S. National Energy Policy

CANADA, ONTARIO, OTTAWA, May. 22 -/E-Wire/-- Thermal Energy International Inc. (CDNX:TMG - news) is pleased that its THERMALONOx(TM) and FLU-ACE® technology solutions were recognized at the highest level by the United States government as promising clean coal technologies.

The U.S. National Energy Policy (see www.whitehouse.gov/energy/) released Thursday, May 17, 2001, by U.S. President George W. Bush, revealed in Chapter 3: Protecting America's Environment that "American Electric Power is installing a wet scrubber system that it expects will remove up to 75 percent NOx.... It injects a phosphorus mixture into the hot flue gas, causing the release of ozone.' (page 3-5).

Although not identified by name, the text partially describes the THERMALONOx(TM) process, as it is the only patented technology using a phosphorus process to produce clean coal-fired power.

The policy also mentions the potential 90% reduction of Mercury (Hg) as an add-on feature, which can be achieved with the deployment of the Company's FLU-ACE® technology. This statement may suggest that FLU-ACE® also has a place in the enactment of the policy, in combination with THERMALONOx(TM).
