Weyerhaeuser ChoiceDek® Decking Line:
A Decking Product for All Reasons and Seasons
SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS, May. 30 -/E-Wire/-- (NASDAQ: AERTA) As if good looks, trouble-free maintenance and durability aren't reason enough to choose the
Weyerhaeuser ChoiceDek® decking line, its 100 percent recycled content often helps
Such was the case when the U.S. Park Service picked ChoiceDek® decking for
constructing a boardwalk at Cape Cod National Seashore. The ChoiceDek® decking
materials met the Park Service's specifications for slip-resistant decking that's
impervious to abuse of all kinds, including rainstorms, sand, salt air, rot, pests and
heavy pedestrian traffic. ChoiceDek® composite decking fits the bill perfectly.
Weyerhaeuser ChoiceDek® composite building material is an engineered decking product
made from wood fibers and recycled polyethylene plastic. The ChoiceDek® decking line
is manufactured exclusively for Weyerhaeuser by Advanced Environmental Recycling
Technologies, Inc. ("AERT") (Nasdaq: AERTA).
Since 1994, ChoiceDek®'s composite building materials good looks and durability have
appealed to growing legions of homeowners specifying alternative materials for new or
replacement decks. The ChoiceDek® decking product line does not require sealing,
staining or painting. These same features make ChoiceDek® decking materials the
versatile choice for numerous outdoor applications, including boat docks, boardwalks,
railing systems, pool and spa decks, and stairways. ChoiceDek® product line carries a
20-year limited warranty against rot or fungal decay and termites or insect damage.
Weyerhaeuser ChoiceDek® Classic product line first gained popularity with homeowners
and builders in outdoor deck applications. Because it contains natural wood fibers,
it starts out with a warm, rich cedar tone and turns a beautiful driftwood color over
time. It's easy to install and does not require special tools.
The ChoiceDek® Classic product line is engineered to withstand harsh conditions, even
those found on the waterfront.
"ChoiceDek® decking is perfect for docks," says Dean Meredith, co-owner of Meredith &
Sons Lumber in Pensacola, Florida. "We probably have two or three docks a day being
built with ChoiceDek® decking, and a couple of builders are using nothing but the
ChoiceDek® product line. It really stands up to salt water, gas and diesel fuel.
It's not as slick when wet, and it holds screws and nails extremely well so docks
remain solid. But ChoiceDek®'s composite building products number one selling point,
hands down, is there's virtually no maintenance required."
The Weyerhaeuser ChoiceDek® decking is made in a standard 5/4" x 6" size and is
available from 8' through 20' lengths. It can be pressure washed or cleaned using
standard deck wash products. The ChoiceDek® product lines durability and versatility
is available in two styles: ChoiceDek® Classic and ChoiceDek® Plus. ChoiceDek®
Classic line is made from cedar heartwood fibers and recycled plastic and sports a
plain surface, while the textured ChoiceDek® Plus line contains oak fibers and
recycled plastic. Additional information about both styles, including installation
instructions and engineering values, can be found online at www.choicedek.com.
National Evaluation Services, Inc. has completed its review of Weyerhaeuser

NER 596 is widely recognized by building code officials in most U.S. markets.
