AT&T; Receives Supplier Environmental Excellence Award From Cinergy Corporation

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, Jun. 1 -/E-Wire/-- Cinergy Corporation (Cinergy) this week announced that AT&T; received a 2000 Supplier Environmental Excellence Award. The award recognizes AT&T; for its emergency preparedness and action plans. Cinergy will donate $500 to The American Red Cross on AT&T;'s behalf. AT&T; was one of four suppliers recognized for environmental excellence in their operations and commitments to their communities.

"The suppliers were chosen because they illustrate how each of us, individually and as organizations, share a responsibility for the future of our environment," said Bill Tyndall, Cinergy vice president of environmental services and federal affairs. "This program helps us develop and reward a core of our environmentally conscious suppliers."

"We are honored to receive such a distinguished recognition from one of our most valued customers in this region," said Dave Bossung, AT&T; Sales Vice President. "Receiving this award from Cinergy has great significance as we mutually understand the importance of health and safety to all community members and staff."

A Cinergy review committee, comprised of materials management, environmental specialists, and area experts, selected the companies. Supplier applications were evaluated based on their efforts in the following areas: corporate and personal accountability, community commitment, energy conservation and power supply, natural resources stewardship, prevention of pollution, emergency preparedness and response, and research and development.
