TORR(TM) Application Seeks US Approval
CANADA, Jun. 4 -/E-Wire/-- EARTH (Canada) Corporation (CDNX:EAR) is pleased to announce in conjunction with Environmental Consultants S.L. Ross
Research of Ottawa, Canada, one of the leading environmental think tanks in Canada,
that EARTH's proprietary TORR (TM) (Total Oil Removal & Recovery) System will be
tested with the United States Mineral Management Service (MMS). MMS is the official
governmental agency in charge of approving and certifying technologies to handle
hazardous waste in the United States. The tests are to be conducted at the US Navy
base in Leonardo, New Jersey beginning the July 16th 2001. The US Navy Base is home
to the Oil & Hazardous Simulated Environmental Test Tank Facility (OHMSETT). OHMSETT
is the only facility in the world capable of conducting full-scale equipment testing,
research, and training with oil in the marine environment under controlled
conditions. Achieving approval of EARTH's TORR technology by OHMSETT is seen in the Oil Spill
industry as the "de-facto" standard in the verification of the viability of any technology used to combat spills. The objective of the tests is to reduce the water content of recovered fluids in open water containment and recovery operations, and thus freeing up scarce onsite storage capacity and increasing recovery efficiencies. MMS & OHMSETT approval of EARTH's technology is the catalyst for the company into entering the lucrative multi-million dollar market for oil spills. Results from the tests will be made available to the company 3 months after the completion of the tests and careful analysis is made
by MMS and OHMSETT. Mr. Edward Akkawi, President & CEO comments from Tokyo, Japan, "Approval of EARTH's
technology by MMS & OHMSETT will allow us to leap-frog our competitors to bringing
TORR to market for Oil Spills." Adding, "The TORR system meets one of the most
pressing concerns of the industry today â and that is dealing with scarce onsite
capacity of the vessels collecting the waste after a spill. This is the first step of
many to gaining approval of our technology in the US marketplace". Middle East Update: The problems regarding the litigation between our client and our former distribution
agent have now been removed. The litigation was between our client, not EARTH, and our
former agent. EARTH was not party to the proceedings, and therefore not privy to the details of the outcome. However, MISR is once again able to deal with EARTH on a normal commercial basis and we are confident of a successful and eventual conclusion to this matter. About EARTH's RPA® & TORR(TM) unique patented technology: § No waste is created and none needs to be disposed of § It allows full recovery of sorbed oil, including emulsified oils § It is the only reusable hydrocarbon absorbent, making it economically and environmentally friendly to use About SL Ross Environmental Research, please visit: www.slross.com About MMS, please visit: www.mms.gov About OHMSETT, please visit: www.ohmsett.com
